Despite the industry’s general outlook, our advertising portfolio has enjoyed a resurgence over the last couple of years. We took on bigger challenges and punched well above our weight, delivering time and again on first class pitches and winning campaigns that stood head and shoulders with the best out there.

So, whether it’s above or below the line, the bottom line is: we treasure every opportunity to flex our creative muscles and grow with you and your brand.

Design

How do we keep designing without getting jaded after 28 years? It’s easy when you love what you do. At Grid, Design is the centre of our universe. When you’ve seen as many trends and hipster fonts come and go as we have, you might come to the same understanding that we have: that good design is as much about discipline and diligence as it is about finding that spark of inspiration.

That is why you’ll never find us showing off anything that could be accused of being extravagant or self-indulgent. Our long and hard-earned experience, and innate sense of responsibility insists that even the wildest designs are crafted with the aim of achieving tangible goals that matter to you, without costing the world.

And through it all, we strive first to understand you and your needs, so that our designs can truly become the bridge to your audience.

Event

There are fancier names nowadays for this thing we do, but we still call it an Event because no matter how big or small the venue, or even if there isn’t a backdrop, it is still always an occasion where our expertise brings delight to the audience and client alike. How do we do it? Careful consideration for the time and space, of course, but mostly it comes down to knowing just how Life-and-Death means to you if anything does wrong.

This is what keeps us on our toes about every single thing that goes into a successful and memorable Event, be it a launch, groundbreaking ceremony, exhibition, roadshow, brand activation or guerilla marketing. We take care of the overall design, props, furniture, sound and lighting, video production, emcees, talents… and not to mention event flow, traffic control and all the coordination that you shouldn’t have to even think about.

All that matters to you is that when from set-up to tear-down, you will have occasion to celebrate with us.

Who are we

We have come a long way since Grid was started in 1987. Along the way, we have kept our independence as a design and advertising studio, become a full-fledged member of Singapore’s 4As and evolved to build a third arm of business in the form of event design and management.

But more importantly, we have learned to always respect and listen to what our clients need. This means cultivating an attitude of receptiveness to feedback and ideas, and a collaborative spirit that starts within the studio and extends to our business relationships. It’s never easy, and sometimes it takes many projects or even years before the trust builds up to an almost intuitive understanding, that really smoothes the way for our creative efforts to shine.

So when it came time to refresh our own look (since the last update in 2005 – we design to last!), we asked ourselves, “How can we capture the essence of what came before and also who we have come to be?” The answer is this new site and identity.

‘Where great ideas connect’ describes what Grid is – it recalls our design roots, our adherence to time-tested creative processes, and the strong connections between our work, our clients and us.

In a word, ‘unselfishly’. Because great ideas can come from anywhere and our job is not to fight for the credit, but to take on the responsibility of joining all the dots and making it real. So, no matter if the spark came from a junior designer, copywriter or business team member – or a client, for that matter – our team always pulls together to deliver kickass results.

But, first things first, we believe in getting things right from the start and our business team is an integral part of the process – they absorb as much information on any project and start the ball rolling by sweating out the details in the creative brief. Even for the most urgent jobs, we make sure to ask the right questions: WHO, WHAT, WHY, WHEN, and the required specifications. This thorough understanding is our first line of defense against costly mistakes and unmet expectations.

With this understanding of the task, our creatives work to generate ideas and formulate concepts, pitching them internally before selecting the most promising ones to be iterated for the initial presentation. Following feedback from clients, we then refine and finalise the designs and concepts for delivery, whether in physical or digital formats.

If it sounds expected, it’s because everyone knows that it is the right way to do things – it’s just that we have actually made a point of ‘walking the talk’ for 28 years… and it works.

We could have simply posted a list of all the fantastic clients we have had the privilege of serving, but what is more interesting is the way that many of them are connected in some way or other through our working relationships. Indeed, positive word-of-mouth is one of the strongest recommendations any agency can earn outside of the awards books, because truly great work serves the client and not our ego.
